Walkley Awards Winners

December 1: 2008: David Gray of Reuters Wire has been announced as winner of the Nikon Walkley Press Photographer of the Year in the 53rd Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism.

Other winners of Walkley Awards for photography include Stephen Dupont of The Sydney Morning Herald, who was nominated at the News Photography winner for "Afghanistan - A Suicide Bombing"; Craig Greenhill of The Daily Telegraph, who won the Daily Life Photography award for  "India's IPL Fans"; Phil Hillyard of  The Daily Telegraph, who  won the Sport Photography award for "Best of the Best" and Steven Siewert of Good Weekend who took out the prize for the Photographic Essay with his collection of images titled "Waiting for Wanda Jackson".

Overall winners of the Gold Walkley Award for Journalism were Ross Coultgart and Nick Farrow of Channel Nine's now-defunct Sunday program for their exposé of medical malpractice titled "Butcher of Bega". Full details of the 2008 Walkley Awards can be found at www.walkleys.com.
