Up Close & Spineless Photo Competition

July 24, 2008: The Australian Museum's annual Up Close & Spineless invertebrate photography competition is on again this year with entries closing on 29 August.

Now in its seventh year, the competition celebrates and explores the wonderful world of invertebrates - animals without a backbone - which make up more than 99% of all animal species on earth.
The popular competition is open to professional, amateur and student photographers with prizes of $600 gift vouchers to spend at Ted's Camera House. Entries are judged on a range of criteria including interesting behaviour; aesthetics; composition; unusual or rare species; and high technical standards.

More than 500 entries were received in last year's competition with 46 of the best entries selected for display at the Australian Museum.
For more information on the Up Close &

Spineless competition including conditions of entry and downloadable entry form, visit www.australianmuseum.net.au.  For help in identifying unusual animals, call the Australian Museum's Search and Discover section on (02) 9320 6202 or email sand@austmus.gov.au.
