February 23, 2009: True Nature, an exhibition of photographs by Catherine Cloran, can be seen at the Steel Bar & Grill, 60 Carrington Street, Sydney (behind Wynyard Station) until 1 May.
Comprising images of artifices and facades in Hong Kong and other parts of China, the display celebrates the points where 'nature' and urban culture intersect. The images draw a fine line between document and a playful, magic realism. This is a China which finds itself caught between rapid economic change and a traditional Asian past.
