Icon and Archive Exhibition

June 6, 2008: The Australian War Memorial's new special exhibition Icon and Archive: photography and the world wars opened to the public today at 10am.

The exhibition
includes both iconic images and previously unseen photographs. It has been set up to showcase the experience of both service personnel and the families left behind during the First and Second World Wars. Icon and Archive will be on display at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra until 12 October. Projections will also take place from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 July and from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 October. Entry is free.

To mark the opening, a selection of the photographs will be projected on to the front of the Memorial's building between dusk and 10pm tonight and on Saturday 7 June.
