Canon EOS Photo5 Challenge Opens

August 27, 2009: Canon's annual EOS Photo5 challenge is back for the third year in a row and promises more challenges for creative photographers.

Based on a creative brief involving five objects in a box sent to registered participants, the game has changed this year. Participants will be tasked with not just shooting the EOS Photo5 object, but also incorporating a specific creative photographic technique. In previous years, entries into the competition have been limited by the number of boxes Canon produces. However, a new addition to this year's EOS Photo5 competition includes an ‘open brief' that allows anybody who misses out on receiving a box to participate. For the first time, EOS Photo5 will also run in New Zealand this year.

This year's judges include four well-known photographers - Simon Harsent, Jackie Rankin, Chris Searl and Chris Bray plus Murray Bell, the co-founder and director of the Semi-Permanent creative conference.

Registration is free of charge and open until 27 September at http://www.canon.com.au/worldOfEos/photo5/. Boxes are limited so people should register as soon as they can. Winners will be announced on November 23, 2009. Every winner (five in total) receives an EOS 5D Mark II Premium Kit (with EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM) and a trip to Queensland, hosted by professional adventure photographer Chris Bray.
