Aussie Photographers Win Travel Photography Awards

December 18, 2008: Three Australian photographers have enjoyed success in the 2008 international Travel Photographer of the Year awards, which attracted roughly 10,000 entries.

Andrew Peacock, based on the Sunshine Coast, won the Call of the Wild portfolio, while Lachlan Millard was Commended in the Life portfolio category, and Tristan Hewatt was one of the winners in the beginner's category, First Shot. Andrew Peacock first began to look seriously through a camera lens while working as a medical doctor on voluntary assignments in Nepal and India in 1996. An active climber, paddler and mountaineer, he is a contributor to Lonely Planet Images and the outdoor adventure collection at Aurora Photos.

The winning images can be viewed at www.tpoty.com. They will be displayed at the Travel Photographer of the Year exhibition at Focus on Imaging, Europe's largest imaging show, in February 2009 and also be published in the TPOTY Journey Three book.
