Challenge 28: Trees

Photo Challenge 28 seemed simple on the surface. We asked photographers to do something interesting with a tree or trees. It is surprisingly difficult to see such a commonplace object in a new and fresh way, but see it thusly our winner and runners-up most certainly did.

It was a struggle to decide between our winner, Jonathan Dael (right and below), and runner-up Mardi Harrison, but in the final analysis we think that Jonathan's study of a mighty fig deserves the ribbon.

We're pleased to be sending Jonathan the superb set of Volumes 8, 9, and 10 of the Fuji ACMP Australian Photographers Collection.

Runner-up: Flowering Gums by Mardi Harrison

Winner: Jonathan Dael. "This was one of the old trees in the botanic gardens.  Out of the many tree shots I did that day, this old one had a stronger presence than the rest as it had that muscular look.  Well-rooted, well-established."
